Degree Designation
The bachelor of science degree in Cybersecurity teaches the knowledge and skills needed to protect computers, networks, information, and data from a wide range of cybersecurity threats. Graduates of this program are well-prepared for dynamic cybersecurity-related careers in both the public and private sectors, in the tri-state area and beyond.
Cybersecurity involves safeguarding computer systems, networks, cloud infrastructure, programs, and sensitive data from digital attacks. It is one of the most exciting new fields of study and career paths with ever-growing demand for skilled specialists. Our program provides a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, along with hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and techniques. Through practical projects, students build a strong foundation in cybersecurity theory while developing problem-solving skills. Additionally, the program offers a balance of technical and liberal arts courses, giving the well-rounded education essential for success in today’s competitive job market.
Our program offers flexibility. Many of the foundational courses overlap with those in the other Computer Systems Technology programs. Students can complete the first three semesters of any Computer Systems Technology degree program assured that all courses will count toward a final degree in Cybersecurity. This flexibility allows exploration of different areas of computer technology before committing to the degree that best fits individual academic and career goals. Students can also transfer into the program from other CUNY institutions or external colleges. No matter the path, upon graduation students are prepared to succeed in the industry or pursue graduate studies at CUNY or beyond.
Several courses within the bachelor of science in Cybersecurity program are available in hybrid and fully online formats, allowing students to balance their studies with professional and personal commitments.
