Offices and Programs
The Continuing Studies Center programs provide career-enhancing skills for adults in a competitive job market. Reasonably priced courses range from Pharmacy Technician, Web Development, and Solar PV, to certificate programs in A+ certification preparation, Refrigeration Mechanics and Construction Safety. CSC works collaboratively with the College's academic departments to bring professional, hands-on training to a diverse audience and is approved by municipal and state licensing authorities to offer qualifying courses in fields including driving instructor education, fire safety, and real estate. The Center also offers personal enrichment courses to enhance quality of life.
The Academy for Occupational Health & Construction Safety enables construction workers and other professionals to obtain hands-on safety training with proper equipment and full-sized scaffolding. Academy courses are offered in a state-of-the-art lecture-lab that raises the bar on workforce training. Safety-compliance training is mandated by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the New York City Department of Buildings or various other authorities before working with certain equipment and/or moving into such job titles as construction super or site safety manager. We can also send our expertise to off-site facilities and can interpret private lessons into Spanish, Polish, Russian, and additional languages upon request.
The Business & Industry Workforce Training Center (BIWTC) provides a broad range of workforce preparation and educational services to students enrolled in the Division of Continuing Education and to adult residents of New York City. These services include assessment, counseling, information and referral, case management, career exploration workshops, skills training, workforce preparation, job development and job placement. The BIWTC works closely with units in the division and college departments as well as outside education and human service providers citywide, to plan, develop and deliver activities and programs.
The Adult Learning Center offers free programs in High School Equivalency (HSE) and English For Speakers Of Other Languages (ESOL). Our students come from many countries but are united in their desire to succeed—to raise families, get better jobs, improve their skills, earn a high school equivalency diploma or go to college. City Tech AEP students enroll in a variety of classes. Each class has its own application process
The CUNY CLIP Program is a low-cost university program designed primarily for first-time freshmen with English language needs who have not yet passed their ACT (Entrance Exam) Reading and/or Writing Skills Tests. Students from all 17 CUNY campuses can attend CLIP at City Tech. After completing a maximum one year of study in CLIP, students return to their home campuses for placement into college level courses.
