Introduction to fundamental concepts in classical and molecular genetics. Course topics provide a broad overview of relevant fields including Mendelian Inheritance, viral and bacterial genetics, molecular structure of genes, transcription and translation, genetic analysis, cancer genetics, and population and quantitative genetics. Laboratories complement lectures by providing a hands-on, inquiry- based approach to research questions in genetics through utilization of both wet-lab and computational methodologies.
